An innovative 17-note numerical system and its computational method for identifying the psychological effects and states of musical pitch

چکیده

قرن‌هاست که فیلسوفان و دانشمندان ایرانی بر این باور بوده‌اند که موسیقی با علومی همچون ریاضیات، اخلاط چهارگانه (مزاج‌ها) و نجوم پیوند دارد؛ با این حال، متأسفانه هیچ‌یک از آنان قوانین صریح یا فرمول‌های ریاضی مشخصی برای اثبات ادعاهای خود ارائه نکرده‌اند. این مقاله با هدف پر کردن این خلأ، یک سیستم عددی ۱۷‌نُتی را به همراه روشی محاسباتی معرفی می‌کند که برای شناسایی تأثیرات روان‌شناختی و حالات عاطفیِ مرتبط با زیروبمی‌های (پیچ‌های) موسیقی طراحی شده است. در این پژوهش، مفاهیم جدیدی همچون «زیروبمی ذاتی» و «زیروبمی اکتسابی» و همچنین تفاوت‌ها و کاربردهای آن‌ها در چارچوب‌های موسیقایی و عددی مورد بررسی قرار می‌گیرند. افزون بر این، مطالعه حاضر با بهره‌گیری از تکنیک‌های محاسباتی و اصول تحلیل عددی، به بررسی مقام‌های اولیه در سیستم هفت‌نُتی موسیقی کلاسیک ایرانی می‌پردازد. اگرچه سیستم ۱۷‌نُتی از نظر فواصل با سیستم ۱۸‌نُتیِ «ابجد» باستان شباهت‌هایی دارد، اما تفاوت‌های بنیادینی در زمینه ارزش‌گذاری عددی، روش‌شناسی محاسباتی، کارایی ساختاری و رویکرد نظام‌مندِ کاربردی با آن دارد. این یافته‌ها می‌توانند به عنوان روشی نوآورانه و مبتنی بر اعداد در حوزه‌های موسیقی‌درمانی و مطالعات نظری موسیقی به کار گرفته شوند و بینش عمیق‌تری نسبت به ویژگی‌های روان‌شناختی درجات موسیقی فراهم آورند. نتایج نشان‌دهنده همبستگی معناداری میان حالات روانیِ برانگیخته‌شده توسط درجات موسیقی و ویژگی‌های مزاجی ذاتی آن‌هاست؛ همچنین با شناسایی صورت‌های فلکیِ (بروج) مرتبط با هر درجه، می‌توان تأثیرات روان‌شناختی ملودی‌ها را با دقت بیشتری تبیین کرد. برای نمونه، تحلیل مقام اصلی در دستگاه چهارگاه نشان می‌دهد که حس هیجان با کیفیت روان‌شناختیِ «گرم و خشک» هم‌سو است. علاوه بر این، رویکرد محاسباتی آشکار ساخت که دستگاه چهارگاه از منظر اخترشناسی با صورت فلکی «اسد» (شیر) هم‌خوانی دارد و ملودی‌های آن به‌طور طبیعی ویژگی‌های شجاعت، هیجان و شادیِ درخشان را برمی‌انگیزند.

Abstract

For centuries, Iranian philosophers and scientists believed that music was related to sciences such as mathematics, the four human temperaments, and astronomy; unfortunately, none of them provided explicit laws or mathematical formulas to prove their claims. Addressing this gap, this paper introduces a 17-note numerical system along with a computational method designed to identify the psychological effects and emotional states associated with musical pitches. New concepts, in particular, the “intrinsic pitch” and the “acquired pitch,” are explored with their distinctions and applications in musical and numerical frameworks. Furthermore, this study uses computational techniques and principles of numerical analysis to investigate the early modes of the 7-note system in Iranian classical music. Although the 17-note system shares interval similarities with the 18-note system of the ancient Abjad, it has fundamental differences in numerical valuation, computational methodology, structural efficiency, and systematic approach to application. These findings can be applied in music therapy and music theoretical studies as an innovative, number-based method that provides deeper insight into the psychological properties of musical steps. The results show a significant correlation between the psychological states evoked by musical steps and their inherent temperamental characteristics, and by identifying the zodiac constellations associated with each step, the psychological effects of melodies can be further discerned. For example, the analysis of the main mode in the Chargah system shows that the feeling of excitement is aligned with the warm and dry psychological quality. Furthermore, the computational approach showed the Chargah to be astrologically aligned with the Leo zodiac sign, showing that its melodies naturally evoke the qualities of courage, excitement, and radiant joy.
