Home-school communication is a fundamental component in the process of educating and socializing students and can play an important role in preventing and reducing their behavioral problems. Problems such as aggression, disobedience, indiscipline, isolation, poor adherence to rules, conflict with peers, and reduced participation in educational activities are usually the result of a complex interaction of individual, family, school, and social factors; therefore, effective intervention in this area requires coordinated cooperation between parents, teachers, counselors, and school administrators. Continuous, two-way, and trust-based communication allows for the exchange of information about the student's behavioral, emotional, and academic characteristics and helps the family and school adopt coordinated and preventive educational strategies instead of partial and punitive responses. Based on the family-school-community partnership model, effective collaboration can be organized in the form of information sharing, shared decision-making, parent education, home learning support, volunteer participation, and coordination of support services (Epstein, 2018). Research shows that home-school collaboration programs, especially when based on regular parent-teacher communication, shared behavioral expectations, positive feedback, and ongoing follow-up, can improve student adjustment and reduce problematic behaviors (Vaez et al., 2016). In the meantime, the quality of communication is more important than its quantity; because frequent but one-sided, blaming, or limited to the time of problem occurrence, not only does not have the necessary effectiveness, but may also lead to distrust between the family and the school. In contrast, respectful, confidential, regular, and solution-oriented communication provides the basis for the formation of shared responsibility and coordinated support for the student. Also, family participation in behavioral support programs increases parents' awareness, strengthens parenting skills, and enhances their sense of self-efficacy. Accordingly, this article, with a review and library approach, examines the role of home-school communication in reducing students' behavioral problems and emphasizes the necessity of designing sustainable communication mechanisms, training parents and teachers, early identification of problems, and developing joint intervention programs.
